The Greater Memphis Area Chapter of the American Association of Nurses was chartered in 1973 as a non-profit organization and is one of the oldest chapters of AACN. The national chapter was established in 1969. It is the largest specialty nursing organization. National and international chapters can be located at http://www.aacn.org. Memphis is one of ten in Region 11, which includes the states Kentucky and Tennessee.

Our Vision

AACN is dedicated to creating a health care system driven by the needs of patients and families where critical care nurses make their optimal contribution. The chapter applied for AACN's President's Award. We did not win but the information sent to explain why we thought our chapter deserved it explains well what the chapter does. The following are links to the parts sent. They are in PDF format. AACN Mission

Building on decades of clinical excellence, the AACN provides and inspires leadership to establish work and care environments that are respectful, healing and humane. The key to our success is through our members. Therefore, AACN is committed to providing the highest quality resources to maximize nurses' contributions to care for critically ill patients and their families.
